If you could reimagine your life to realize the best version of yourself, where would that thought take you?
a materials engineer by training, shiran was first enticed by coconut-fiber in 2013 after he moved back home to sri lanka from the US.
For our chief planter (aka founder) this question, this thought on how to reimagine his life would help him discover his greatest calling; a mission to rediscover and reimagine coconut-fiber. It was 2018 when Shiran finally came up with the simple idea to use coconut-fiber to create a pair of sandals. After many Youtube videos and lots of trial and error later, our first prototype was born and with it, sebastco. We sold extremly well for 3 weekends at Good Market in Sri Lanka before covid shut us down.
Fast forward to the present, withstanding many covid shutdowns, revolutions and political upheaval, sebastco persevered and found a path through all these struggles by creating an innovative line-up of lifestyle products that all have the awesomeness of coconut-fibre at its core. Each is an idea born, the culmination of an unrushed thought process that simply asked how can we reimagine coconut-fiber to create more sustainable opportunities for ourselves, for our coir communities, for our country and for our world.
While we do take our dreams seriously, we go about them at a pace that is in perfect sync with our hearts. After all, sebastco is a brand born with a tropical soul – unhurried, free-as-the-wind and close to the earth.
